Celtics Newcomer sets to Bringing This ‘Voice’ To Championship Pursuit

Sam Cassell  appeared in 38 games for the Celtics, with more than half of those coming in the postseason.

But he knows what it takes to win in Boston.

Those were the final games of his 15-year NBA career, which culminated with a victory in the 2008 NBA Finals. Cassell hopes to experience the thrill of lifting the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the fourth time in his career, but for the first time as a coach.

Cassell can’t seem to climb back to the top now that he’s back with the Celtics. He has a strategy.

My voice will say, ‘Hey guys, this is a fantastic opportunity for us.’ “It’s not easy,” Cassell remarked, according to Souichi Terada of MassLive. “I understand what it’s like to win a championship in Boston.” It will change the lives of each player, any member of that organization who was a part of winning a championship.”

The 53-year-old has spent the majority of his post-playing career honing his coaching credentials, having spent five seasons with the Washington Wizards, six seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, and three seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. Cassell’s goal for the Celtics is straightforward.”It’s okay to scream and yell, but we need to have the same common goal — and that common goal is to bring Banner 18,” Cassell stated, according to Terada. “That is the sole goal. It’s not making the conference finals as a member of the coaching staff or a player. I’m referring to winning the championship. Winning the title is a Boston tradition.”
