Leicester City were linked with a move for Manchester City and England U21 goalkeeper James Trafford over the weekend.
The teenager has impressed during two loan periods with Bolton Wanderers and is now on international duty with England U21s.
The Sun reports that Leicester City are interested in signing the 20-year-old, but Enzo Maresca’s side are unclear whether to acquire a new goalkeeper this summer or bring one in on loan for the 2023/24 season.
Here are three goalkeepers the Foxes should examine this summer…
Freddie Woodman
Last summer, Preston North End signed Woodman on a cheap transfer from Newcastle United. Last summer, he preserved 17 clean sheets in the Championship and earned the 2020/21 Championship Golden Glove while at Swansea City.
Woodman is a well-liked player in the football world, but if Leicester want to sign him this summer, he won’t be cheap, with Lilywhites coach Ryan Lowe joking last season that the 26-year-old would cost £20 million.
Seny Dieng
This summer’s international between QPR and Senegal is generating a lot of buzz. He’s been QPR’s No. 1 for the past three seasons, and it was reported last week that Championship clubs Middlesbrough and Hull City had made approaches for him.
Dieng, on the other hand, has previously attracted interest from Arsenal and Crystal Palace, indicating that he is a player with the ability to play in the Premier League.
He’d be a wise addition for the Foxes, and given that he’s in the final year of his QPR contract, he won’t break the bank for Maresca.
Karl Darlow
The Newcastle United midfielder is yet another who has been widely linked with a move away this summer. Hull City, Middlesbrough, and Blackburn Rovers are among the Championship clubs interested in him.
The 32-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City, where he impressed, demonstrating his ability to succeed in the Championship.
Darlow could be a better option if Leicester want a loan deal rather than a permanent one this summer, and he’d add a wealth of experience to the Foxes XI.
