FC Barcelona is experiencing financial difficulties (what else is new?). That suggests the Catalan club is aiming to get rid of some new players (breaking: the water is still wet).
No, it’s not 2022, but it’s about the players Barcelona signed that year.
Among them is Franck Kessié, a 26-year-old defensive midfielder who joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Inter Milan last summer. SPORT recorded the Ivory Coast international wearing a Bayern Munich jersey as he greets and poses for selfies with fans.
He’s not even disguising his face, according to the story. So, what exactly is this? A “come and get me” message to the German behemoths? Is this a signal to all interested parties that he’s for sale? An declaration of admiration following Bayern’s two Champions League victory over Barcelona previous season? Or a hefty helping of nothing?
This season, Thomas Tuchel is looking for a new defensive midfielder to play alongside Joshua Kimmich, but don’t hold your breath:So far, West Ham’s Declan Rice and Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips have been mentioned, with conjecture that the Bavarians may simply sit tight and be pleased with what they have. While Bayern have long adored Kessié’s Barça teammate Frenkie de Jong, the same does not appear to be true for Kessié.
On this one, Barça may have to handle their own difficulties.
