Burnley have made a £9 million proposal for Sunderland midfielder Jack Clarke, their third attempt this summer.
Last season, the former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur striker scored 24 goals in all competitions, including two against Premier League club Fulham in the FA Cup, as Tony Mowbray’s team reached the play-offs.
Burnley were promoted to the Premier League as champions after winning the Championship under Manchester City great Vincent Kompany. Brentford and Crystal Palace, both Premier League rivals of the Clarets, have also been linked with Clarke.
According to Sky Sports, Burnley have filed a third bid for Clarke, valued over £9 million, which is likely to be rejected by Sunderland.
The 22-year-old is under contract until 2026, with Tottenham owing money if the Black Cats trade Clarke and make a profit. Clarke and Sunderland are thought to be in contract negotiations.
