DONE DONE: Leeds United have now ‘agreed’ terms to sign Crysencio Summerville replacement, player is yet to decide

Finding a replacement for Crysencio Summerville remains arguably Leeds United’s most important remaining piece of business.

Leeds are still keen on making at least three new signings before the end of the window but finding someone to replace Summerville’s output will take some doing.

While bringing in a proper number eight with a goal threat and some cover at full-back is important, Summerville is leaving behind 31 goal contributions and the tag of the league’s best player.

From the moment the final whistle went at Wembley, it always looked pretty certain Summerville would be on his way out of Elland Road.

As such, Leeds have been putting plans in place for this eventuality, and it feels like they are moving closer to finding their man.

Leeds agree terms of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi deal

Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe appear to have emerged as Leeds’ top two targets to replace Summerville.

The Whites remain locked in talks with Norwich over a deal for the latter, with suggestions they are moving closer to Rowe’s valuation.

Rak-Sakyi, meanwhile, is wanted by a host of Championship clubs, but it is Leeds, Sheffield United and Hull City who have been making the most serious plays.

24 hours ago, Rak-Sakyi had looked destined for Sheffield United but a new update from Sky Sports has thrown a spanner in the works.

Sky state that both Leeds and Hull City have agreed to Palace’s terms for a season-long-loan, which include a seven figure loan fee, full salary coverage, and reportedly, a recall clause in January.

It is said the Blades do still remain the ‘front-runners’ at this stage, but Rak-Sakyi is still yet to make an official decision on where he will be playing next season.Leeds United submit 'enquiry' about Hull City and Southampton transfer target

When is Rak-Sakyi expected to make his decision

As per the report, Rak-Sakyi could make a decision on his future as early as today so that he can be registered at a Championship club in time to feature on the first day of the EFL season.

Rak-Sakyi has enjoyed a brilliant pre-season at Palace with three goals in his two friendly appearances, and so would be ready to come in and hit the ground running.

Leeds, of course, play their opening match of the campaign against Portsmouth on Saturday and so if he does choose Elland Road, it would be interesting to see if he is named in the squad.

Leeds United may be about to face defeat in the pursuit of one of their top remaining transfer targets.

The Whites are expected to be one of the busiest teams in the Championship during the final three weeks of the window, with three new signings still wanted by Daniel Farke.

At this stage, replacing Crysencio Summerville looks to be the main priority following his move to West Ham United last weekend.

Leeds have been doing a lot of work in doing that this week and have reportedly agreed terms with Crystal Palace for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but so have Sheffield United and Hull City.

Rak-Sakyi is not the only winger Leeds have been discussing, though, with Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe one Farke is really keen to bring to Elland Road.

Marseille deal Leeds blow in Jonathan Rowe race

Leeds could well be about to learn the outcome of their pursuits for both Rak-Sakyi and Rowe in the coming hours.

While Leeds have matched what Palace want for Rak-Sakyi, Sheffield United remain at the front of the queue, and a decision is expected today

Leeds, meanwhile, are said to have made good progress in talks with Norwich over a deal for Rowe, but a new report from today’s printed edition of The Sun (9 August, page 51), suggests otherwise.

They claim that Marseille are actually set to win the race for the ‘unstoppable‘ Rowe having outbid Leeds with an offer of £8 million.

Leeds, meanwhile, are yet to get above £7 million according to the report, meaning the 21-year-old looks set to be on his way to France, as opposed to Elland Road.

After reports Leeds were getting closer to Norwich’s valuation on Thursday, hopefully the 49ers can come up with an improved bid that overcomes Marseille’s interest.
