Fabrizio Romano has provided the most recent update on the agreement for Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Romano claimed yesterday that the Italian goalkeeper is scheduled to fly to England for a physical with the North London club.
And today he reported that the youngster landed in London today to finish his physical before signing a contract with Spurs.He also stated that the agreement will be publicly revealed this week.
“Guglielmo Vicario, in London right now to complete medicals as Tottenham’s new signing,” he tweeted. The agreement will be publicized this week.”
Vicario’s arrival at Tottenham could speed the exit of their experienced goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris.
He just has one year left on his current contract, and the club is eager to get rid of him after a dismal season.
He’s been linked with a number of clubs, including Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, who are rumored to be willing to increase his earnings at Spurs. Other possible destinations for Lloris are his hometown club Nice and Inter Milan, who are looking to replace Onana.
Tottenham moved quickly to recruit Guglielmo Vicario, completing the entire process in just a few days, from identifying him as a target to finalizing personal terms and agreeing on a fee with Empoli. This speedy deal-making is not typical of the Spurs, who are not known for surprising supporters.
The highly rated Italian shot-stopper will join Spurs for €19 million and will sign a five-year contract that would keep him at the club until June 2028.
