Rice sent a powerful message to Newcastle 22-year-old young winger

Declan Rice has delivered a message to Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United after he scored for England yesterday.

The 22-year-old shared a photo on Instagram after assisting the Young Lions in advancing to the next round of the Under-21 European Championships.

England defeated Israel 2-0, with Anthony Gordon and Emile Smith Rowe scoring.

Gordon scored his first goal of the tournament in the first 15 minutes, nodding in a cross from Morgan Gibbs-White.

During the qualification period, the winger scored four goals in four starts.

So far, it has inspired manager Lee Carsley to use Gordon as a false nine in this tournament.

Although he did not score in England’s first game against Czechia, Gordon has impressed in that role and piqued the interest of Declan Rice.

Carsley may rotate his lineup against Germany on Wednesday, despite the fact that England has already advanced to the quarter-finals.

It will be intriguing to see if Gordon is given another opportunity to shine as a forward.

Gordon posted on Instagram after the match, “Top of the group & into the Quarters!”

He also credited Morgan Gibbs-White for assisting his headed goal.

Declan Rice also responded, “Come on the boysssss,” clearly keeping an eye on the Young Lions.

“Nice you,” said fellow January recruit Harrison Ashby, while Emile Smith Rowe and Curtis Jones felt he was on fire.

Gordon’s performance in his new forward role will pique Newcastle’s interest.

Given the form of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak towards the close of the season, Gordon’s inclusion as a centre-forward is unlikely.

Eddie Howe will be happy to see Gordon in top form on the international stage after a slow start at St. James’ Park.

The teenage winger wasn’t always pleased with some of Howe’s decisions about his playing time.

Gordon, on the other hand, has garnered the plaudits of Rice and his England teammates following a brilliant performance in Georgia.
