WATERLOO, WI – The skid of defeats has ended.

With their 20-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at Lambeau Field, the Green Bay Packers won their first game in over a month.

Granted, the Rams were using their backup quarterback, but at this point they’ll take whatever they can get from a team that is struggling as badly as the Packers were.

Anthony Johnson Jr. and De’Vondre Campbell both had some insights. Aaron Jones had a season-high 24 touches, and Jordan Love found Luke Musgrave for a touchdown pass.

Even in the first half, the much-maligned offense managed to score a touchdown—their first since Week 2 against Atlanta.

All things considered, the Packers’ record is 3-5 ahead of their crucial road matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Game Ball: When rookie defensive backs Anthony Johnson Jr. and Carrington Valentine were chosen in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, they probably had no idea that they would be in this position.

For them both, it would be a success if they could even make the original 53-man roster. That’s the life of a draft pick in the seventh round.

Rather, they were both beginning a crucial game in November against a team that had won the Super Bowl the previous year.

Rasul Douglas, who was dealt to Buffalo earlier this week, was replaced by Valentine.

It would be unjust to expect him to be on Douglas’s level, but for a single day, he was.

Valentine was sticky throughout the day and, by my count, had three pass breakups.

Johnson said to Packer Central earlier in the week that he was ready for this chance.

Johnson’s planning was fruitful. He gave Tyler Higbee a hard hit early in the game to get the ball back, sending a message.

He had an opportunity to play with the ball later in the game. Cooper Kupp was the target of a pass that Jaire Alexander tipped into the air. It was the first interception of Johnson’s brief career when he came down with it.
