“I haven’t played since 1986 because there weren’t any snooker tables in Barcelona when I went there,” he stated. The only snooker table in the town was located in a crowded bar. And it was during that period when they all smoked indoors and used the snooker table’s pockets as ashtrays.
“However, I had a 135 clearance and a few 100 breaks. Between the time I was about 16 and the time I was about 25, I used to play every day after training. As a football player, you have a lot of free time, so that was my thing.
Subsequently, Lineker recounted his involvement in a snooker match that was broadcast on television prior to the 1986 FA Cup final between Everton and Liverpool. In a best-of-three match, Lineker, then of Everton, faced Mark Lawrenson of Liverpool.
