Aston Villa appears to be eyeing Nottingham Forest 22-year-old midfielder

Brennan Johnson’s asking price of £60 million is insufficient for Nottingham Forest fans, who would not part ways with the local forward at any cost.

Brentford’s £30 million bid for the Wales international was previously turned down, but the Bees and Aston Villa are also rumored to be interested. However, convincing Forest to part with Johnson would require a large sum of money, with the Sun estimating a £60 million worth.

That sum, though, is insufficient for Reds fans. They want it to be closer to £100 million, similar to Fulham’s alleged £90 million asking price for midfielder Joao Palhinha, or they don’t want to sell at all and instead grow around Johnson as the team seeks to climb the table this season.

Johnson signed a new contract with the City Ground last year and is under contract until 2026. Last season, the 22-year-old scored eight goals and assisted three times in 38 Premier League outings. Here are some comments from Forest fans on our Facebook page.

“I read this morning that some Premier League clubs are interested in Fulham’s Palinha.” They wasted no time in putting a £90 million price tag on him. Forest has suddenly valued Johnson at £60 million. This, in my perspective, is still insufficient!”

“BJ isn’t going anywhere,” adds Christophe Frost. “Gordon isn’t that good, and he’s worth £55m.”

“Do we really need to sell?” Gary Tucker wonders. We need to build around him.”

“BJ is not leaving Forest,” says Jose Alexander. He will score more than 15 goals this season. We are very excited to succeed at the highest level.”

“Why have they assigned a monetary value to him?” Michael Brown asks. We shouldn’t sell him; instead, we should say he’s not for sale.”

Heather Turner predicts that “he’ll be worth twice that in a couple of years.”

“Worth at least £85 million before we start talking!” says Adrian Nicholas.

“To Brentford?” says Stuart Hart. They are punching above their weight. The forest is expanding. It’s much better for him if he remains.”

“Keep him, he’ll only get better,” says Mark Hudson. Another excellent season, and he’ll be worth £90 million.”

Toby Brittain: “£60 million is insufficient.” It must be worth £100 million. Also, why would we split up a strong front four?”
