Nottingham Forest in hot battle with Aston Villa in signing of Leeds United midfielder this summer

Jonjo Shelvey and Remo Freuler have both been linked with moves away from Nottingham Forest this summer.

Tyler Adams of Leeds United appears to be one of the primary targets.

Forest are interested in wooing Adams away from Elland Road, according to the Daily Mail.

The American international was one of Leeds’ few bright spots when they were demoted to the Championship.

Adams, who cost Leeds £20 million last year, is unlikely to want to play in the second division, and Forest may now attempt to get him back to the top flight immediately.

Fabrizio Romano recently spoke with CBS Sports Golazo about Forest’s interest in Adams.

Forest, according to Romano, are particularly keen in signing Adams, although other clubs are also interested.

“The expectation, particularly for Tyler Adams, is that he will look for opportunities in the Premier League.” Nottingham Forest are great fans of him, but there are two or three more clubs requesting terms from Leeds,” Romano explained.

According to The Athletic, Aston Villa have increased their interest in signing Adams.

Leeds would like to keep Adams, but with so much interest, it will be difficult.

Forest may find it difficult to surpass Villa, who have European football and Unai Emery as big selling points.

However, it’s also worth noting the midfield alternatives Emery already has.

Douglas Luiz, Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn, Jacob Ramsey, and new signing Youri Tielemans are all pushing for time on the field.

Adams would not be guaranteed a starting spot at Villa Park and would likely see more playing time if he moved to the City Ground.

Money will also be a consideration, but Adams defending Steve Cooper’s back four seems very enticing.

This would be a big signing for Forest, and it might boost Cooper’s midfield heading into the new season.
