Leeds United place an eight-figure price on a player despite interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham

Leeds United are preparing for a summer exodus following their relegation back to the Championship last month, with many key players garnering interest in England and throughout Europe.

Illan Meslier is one of them, and despite a few individual blunders in the second half of last season, he is still valued by Premier League clubs.

And an update on his future in West Yorkshire has emerged, making him more appealing to clubs looking to sign him.

According to Football Insider, the value of Meslier to Leeds has changed following their relegation to the Championship.

Leeds wanted £40 million for the services of the young Frenchman when they were still in the Premier League.

Meslier’s play declined in the closing months of 2022-23, and he was replaced in goal by Sam Allardyce, who preferred Joel Robles for the final four games of the season.

Meslier is still highly valued in general, but if rumors are to be believed, United are now willing to accept a somewhat lesser fee, with £30 million now being what it will take to lure the 23-year-old away from Elland Road.

Several teams have been eyeing Meslier for some time, and Leeds’ new position as a Championship club will only increase Premier League rivals’ desire to get a good deal.

‘If it’s to go and sit on the bench, I’m not interested in that,” Meslier said of a prospective Leeds exit and a transfer to Chelsea.

“Of course, if you want to be number one, you can’t say, ‘I’m not interested in Chelsea.'”

“I’d rather go to a less prestigious club where I’ll get more playing time than a top European club where I’ll sit on the bench.”
