With flier Charlie Staines out for up to 12 weeks, the Wests Tigers have been handed another blow.

Staines sustained a slight intestinal perforation in the second half against the Sea Eagles, the club reported on Wednesday.

He miraculously finished the game, but he was in a lot of pain afterwards.

Staines was transported to the hospital for emergency surgery and is now in stable condition.

According to the club, he will be out for 8 to 12 weeks.

Following Staines’ injury, David Nofoaluma has been recalled to the wing.

“My respect for wingers has gone up another level,” Tigers attacker David Klemmer remarked on Wednesday.

“The adrenaline must have kept him going, but when the game ended, it must have hit him like a ton of bricks.”
