Wolves: Old Gold handed chance to sign “incredible” striker

According to a source, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been given a fantastic opportunity to recruit a “incredible” striker in the January transfer window.

Is it necessary for Wolves to sign a striker?

Wolves completed the transfer of Matheus Cunha from Atletico Madrid in the previous transfer window, following his initial loan spell from Atletico Madrid, although they had an otherwise quiet summer, only paying fees for four other new arrivals.

Cunha has not been particularly prolific in the early parts of the Premier League game, having scored just one goal in his first five games, despite the fact that the Old Gold have played heavy opponents in Manchester United, Brighton, and Liverpool.

However, Hwang Hee-chan has had a flying start to the season, scoring three goals in the top division, so it is unclear whether Gary O’Neil will need to sign a new forward in the January transfer window.

However, if the manager decides he wants to bolster his attacking options, he may have been presented with a golden opportunity, with Sport Witness reporting claims from Italy linking Wolves with a new approach for Boulaye Dia.

Dia was sought by the Old Gold in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, with the Premier League club making a loan deal with an option to buy, but Salernitana turned them down.

following the deal fell through, the Salernitana striker made it apparent he was unhappy, and he hasn’t played for the Serie A club since, first refusing to return to Salerno following the international break, citing personal reasons.

The 26-year-old has since returned to his club, but his long-term future appears to be in doubt, with Sky Italia stating that he is “unmotivated” in training, and there is a serious possibility that he may not play for Salernitana before the January transfer window.

As a result, Wolves may have a new chance to secure their summer transfer target this winter, and he may be available at a lesser cost.

How talented is Boulaye Dia?
The Senegalese forward has downed tools in training because he did not get the summer move he desired, but there are signs he could be a solid addition for Wolves come January.

The France-born striker has already established himself in three of Europe’s best divisions, scoring 14 goals in 36 Ligue 1 games for Reims in 2020/21 before contributing 10 goals in 25 games for Villarreal the following year.

However, the former Reims player has been most impressive in Serie A, where he averaged just under one goal every two games for Salernitana last season, scoring 16 times in 33 appearances.

Dia, described as “incredible” by journalist Josh Bunting, is a proven goalscorer at a high level, and if Hwang’s form dries up before the January transfer window, it will be worth Wolves renewing their interest.
