Deal ongoing as Manchester United are working very hard to sign Leeds German player

Manchester United are currently ‘working aggressively’ to recruit Leeds United defender Robin Koch, according to German magazine Kicker, but Erik ten Hag’s side face competition from Leverkusen, Frankfurt, and other Premier League clubs.

Koch, 26, played for Leeds last season. With only two Premier League games missed, the eight-time Germany ace was perhaps one of our more consistent performers. However, he was an important part of a defense that allowed 89 goals.

Koch has been heavily linked with a move since his relegation. According to various reports, Koch will either require a fee or will sign for free. Kicker agrees with the German media that he can depart for nothing.

The report states that while Bayer, Frankfurt and other Premier League clubs – perhaps, West Ham, Newcastle and Tottenham – are working hard to sign Koch, Manchester United are ‘working intensively’ to land the German player.

A move to Old Trafford would be a surprise one for Koch. It is one that will annoy Leeds fans – less so than when Alan Smith moved to them, though, given he is not a boyhood Leeds man. There are better options for the German.

Because Koch would struggle to get started. In the midst of defense, Manchester United has Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, and other excellent possibilities. Harry Maguire is expected to leave in the end, and Koch would be his replacement.

That means Koch will only have a minor role. Koch is widely known to be eager to return to Germany with Euro 2024 on the horizon. He can’t do that by playing here and there. He must be a starter on his next team.

Newcastle is out as well. Koch and Leeds would benefit from returning to Germany. Bayer or Frankfurt would be a better fit for Koch. He can generate money while under the watchful scrutiny of German media Euro 2024.
