Ian Wright was left amazed when he was told that Dejan Kulusevski’s goal during Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United was the latest-ever winner in Premier League history.
The Arsenal legend hailed the Tottenham fans for how they celebrated that winning moment, as he fired shots at the ‘celebration police’, who have previously had issues with players and fans enjoying such moments, as he told Premier League Productions (18/09/23 at 2:10 pm).
Scoring a winning goal when there is 100 minutes on the board is crazy enough, but to be 1-0 down in the 97th minute and still win the game, is even crazier – Paul Merson made an admission after the game about Spurs even though ‘it hurts me to say it’.
Dejan Kulusevski was the man who received the plaudits for his composed finish at the weekend, but credit also has to be given to Richarlison.
After the Brazil star publicly spoke about his mental health issues this week, he came off the bench against the Blades and had a hand in both goals.
It could prove to be a defining moment for the player, as Wright issued the following response when he was told about that history-making goal from Spurs.

“This one? This is the latest ever? Wow,” responded Wright. “Look at the crowd. What I was pleased to see there is the rapturous applause and the celebrations of Spurs.
“We (Arsenal) have already had one of those this season (against Manchester United) where you score a late one, it’s what it is about.
“At the latter stage of a game and you snatch it. Fans should be enjoying it. People say ‘oh, the celebration police come out’. They say ‘why are they celebrating, it’s only five games?’. It’s amazing.”
