Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner was the star of the show as USA defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 in a friendly. The Reds stopper is considered the first choice for his country and he showcased why.
Turner signed for Forest in the summer from Arsenal. He made just seven appearances for the Gunners and failed to make his mark in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old has played all five games that Forest have played in all competitions this season. He kept his first clean sheet for the Reds last weekend as the team defeated Chelsea.
Last night, international football took centre stage. Turner played the full 90 minutes and was given a rating of 8.5/10 by NBC as they produced a player ratings piece.
They said of his performance: “We’re sure the Nottingham Forest man wasn’t expecting to be this busy, but it was never a problem. Looked as assured as he has in a USMNT shirt and was excellent in possession, completing 28 of 30 passes.”

The American is in good form and he’s clearly thriving having been given a chance to play regular football. Turner looks like an astute piece of business from a Forest perspective and there is more to come.
Turner didn’t cost much and Forest have done well to get him. Arsenal chose to move him on after landing David Raya from Brentford and the Forest man now gets his chance.
The player has been craving the regular action for a while. Clearly, playing regularly for Forest has helped him and he will now hope to continue as the number one on the international stage.
