According to Jacob Steinberg, Tottenham’s opponents in the race for the player have cooled their interest.
Spurs have apparently raced to the front of the queue because “their priorities lie elsewhere.”
Spurs are now ‘likely to make a fresh move’ for Maddison.
Spurs had a joint proposal for the 26-year-old and teammate Harvey Barnes rejected by Leicester last week, according to reports.
Meanwhile,’sources have expressed skepticism’ about Newcastle pursuing Maddison.
They are reportedly closing in on AC Milan’s Sandro Tonali, which is apparently likely to cost them around £60million.
This is a great bit of news for Tottenham. Obviously it’s still all just speculation, but it’s still very positive for Spurs.

However, if Tottenham manages to complete a deal for Maddison, this should not happen.
