Glen Kamara completed a move to Leeds United from Rangers in the final 48 hours of the window, and he has told Finnish outlet HS what Teemu Pukki told him about manager Daniel Farke, ahead of a move.
Kamara, 27, is one of nine signings at Elland Road. Karl Darlow, Djed Spence, Joe Rodon, Sam Byram, Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, Jaidon Anthony and Joel Piroe – along with 52-time Finland international.
The ball-playing midfielder joins Leeds after four and a half years at Ibrox, where he played 193 times for Rangers – winning the Premiership title, the Scottish Cup and reached the 2021-22 Europa League final.
Pukki, obviously, played for Farke’s Norwich for three of the four years Farke was in charge. The gaffer bringing him to Norwich in the summer of 2018. Kamara says he asked Pukki about the Leeds manager.
“He [Farke] said he saw me play. I would guess that he has also seen me play in Finland’s shirt, also in Rangers. I spoke with Teme [Pukki]. He had nothing but good things to say. It made my decision easier.”
Kamara asked Pukki about Leeds manager Farke ahead of move
Kamara is a wonderful signing but it is also a positive to hear that even Farke’s old players are giving a glowing reference of him. He might not have delighted all, but clearly left a lasting impression on Pukki.
Farke has probably been the best signing of the summer. He has galvanised a depressed fan base, and gone about his work without fuss – despite all of the obstacles placed in his way. Thanks, Victor Orta.
He has got this Leeds squad looking as though it could tackle the Championship and fight for the top six. Come January, maybe a loan signing or two, and Leeds can really have a crack at promotion.
