Wolves are reportedly set to offer a contract to Jesse Lingard, who is currently a free agent.
The transfer window is now closed, meaning Wolves are now unable to spend money on new players.
But the free agent market remains something for Wolves to explore.
This time last year, Wolves signed Diego Costa, who had terminated his contract with Atletico Mineiro.
And now, it has been claimed that the club could offer a contract to Lingard.
A Wolves move for Lingard would be interesting, after the player once had a bust-up with Pedro Neto. In April 2021, Neto took issue with West Ham’s game management tactics. There was an altercation between the pair at the end of the game, with teammates swarming them.
Wolves set to offer Jesse Lingard a contract
Wolves are now set to offer Lingard a contract, according to Sky Sports News.
At the moment, Lingard is training with West Ham United, the club he spent some time on loan at in the season before last.
Last season, Lingard played for Nottingham Forest, and made 20 appearances.
Lingard’s spell with West Ham was fairly impressive when he was there.
For the Hammers he scored nine goals and made five assists in 16 appearances.
One wonders if this means there could be anything in the Pablo Sarabia to Saudi Arabia links.
Lingard would be a great signing on a free
This is a very interesting claim, and one that Wolves fans should get behind.
There is a perception of Lingard, but he is a proven Premier League player.
His stint with Forest was forgettable, but the Reds struggled in the Premier League last season and narrowly avoided relegation.
Lingard is creative and hard working and could be a nice addition for Wolves.
At the moment, the squad is fairly young and the 30-year-old’s experienced could come in handy.
