Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has named two Nottingham Forest defenders in his team of the week, following the 1-0 win over Chelsea.
Forest came out as unexpected winners at Stamford Bridge, thanks to Anthony Elanga’s second-half goal. The game saw Forest pick up their first clean sheet of the season, despite the attacking talent on show for Chelsea.
After two summers of big spending, the Blues were able to field the likes of Raheem Sterling, Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson. Players such as Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, and new signing Cole Palmer all came off the bench to try and find a goal, but Forest was able to keep them at bay.
The win moves Steve Cooper ’s men up to ninth place in the early Premier League table, having recorded two wins and two losses in their opening four league games. Forest are next in action after the international break when they take on Burnley at the City Ground on Monday, 18 September.
