Deal Nottingham Forest transfer snub due to the central defender claim

According to rumors, Nottingham Forest will fight with Marseille for Besiktas defender Romain Saiss.

The Reds have long been connected with the former Wolves defender, with Steve Cooper’s side apparently showing an interest in him back in the January transfer window. Last week, it was reported that Forest were planning to launch a £3.4 million move for the player in order to bring him back to the Premier League.

However, it appears that they will face competition, with Marseille reportedly in advanced talks with both the player and Besiktas about a potential transfer. Saiss is thought to want to join the French club this summer, with talks on a two-year contract already starting.

However, it now seems that Forest will now provide competition to the Ligue 1 club for the player. According to Turkish outlet Turkiye Gazetesi , both Marseille and Forest will ‘sit at the table’ for Saiss this summer.

Besiktas is reportedly seeking at least €4 million for the player, while Marseille is only willing to give €3 million. It’s something that might stymie any possible move and allow Forest to make the move for the player.

Saiss, who spent six years with Wolverhampton Wanderers, would add Premier League experience to the City Ground. He joined Besiktas last summer and is set to leave during the current transfer window.

The 33-year-old has made 387 appearances in his career. He was also a member of Morocco’s World Cup side that advanced to the semi-finals in Qatar.
