Finally Nottingham Forest are interested in signing the £9m ace who has been place up for sale

Nottingham Forest’s hunt for a new goalkeeper has been aided by the availability of Luis Maximiano at Lazio, five months after the Premier League club’s January approach was rejected down.

Before signing Keylor Navas on loan from PSG, Steve Cooper’s side tried and failed to sign not just Emil Audero of Sampdoria, but also Anderlecht captain Hendrick van Crombrugge and the aforementioned Luis Maximiano.

According to Citta Celeste, Nottingham Forest made a multi-million pound approach for the latter, a Portuguese 24-year-old who was on the outside looking in when Maurizio Sarri lead Lazio back to the Champions League last season.

Maximiano, in fact, played only six minutes of Serie A football in 2022/23. On opening day, he was sent out shortly after the whistle blew and was never seen again.

Citta Celeste adds that Lazio owner Claudio Lotito would ‘gladly’ listen to bids. In the summer of 2022, the Biancocolesti intend to return the £9 million they gave Granada. A price of this magnitude should not be a problem for Nottingham Forest.

According to additional reports from Rome, Maximiano’s agent is seeking to get his client a way out of Italy as a whole. Forest might make a move for both Henderson and the former Sporting Lisbon player, however it remains to be seen whether Maximiano would be comfortable with another season as second-choice.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Forest is keeping an eye on Audero in addition to Maximiano.
