Deal Nottingham Forest officially tabled Five double deals bid cause before transfer deadline this morning

It is likely to be a busy end to the transfer window for Nottingham Forest as tonight’s 11pm deadline approaches.

The Reds have already welcomed a number of new arrivals this summer, while several players have headed in the opposite direction. Further ins and outs are likely in the final hours of the window.

“There’s some things that could happen, some things that might not and everything in between that,” head coach Steve Cooper said on Thursday morning. “I do think there will be some players coming in, and I think there will be players leaving as well, with loans etc. There’s loads of moving parts.”

Cooper went on to confirm deals were close for defenders Murillo and Nuno Tavares, from Corinthians and on loan from Arsenal respectively. But he also outlined the club’s business wasn’t likely to stop there.

Arsenal's Nuno Tavares on Aston Villa radar

Progress has been made for a swap deal which would see midfielder Remo Freuler join Bologna and Nicolas Dominguez head in the opposite direction. There are also a few other irons in the fire, with the centre of the pitch a particular priority.

PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare has long been a target. A late push has been made to try to clinch his signature, although he is not the only player the Reds have looked at for that role.

Elsewhere, Cooper made clear early in the summer that two goalkeepers would be on the club’s shopping list. Matt Turner has done well since putting pen to paper, but the Reds would like another stopper to challenge him for the No.1 shirt. Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos could well take on that responsibility

Bolstering Cooper’s attacking resources is also a possibility before the window closes, not least amid uncertainty about Brennan Johnson’s future. Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and Fenerbahce striker Michy Batshuayi have been on Forest’s radar
