Nottingham Forest reject to give his super star player out to another club

The latest Nottingham Forest transfer news from Nottinghamshire Live as Brentford continue their pursuit of Brennan Johnson

Nottingham Forest have reportedly rejected another offer from Brentford for Brennan Johnson.

The Bees were linked with the Nottingham Forest forward earlier this summer, having made at least two transfer bids to sign the 22-year-old with both offers rejected. Tottenham, Chelsea, West Ham and Aston Villa are also said to have registered their interest according to reports.

Recent reports have also claimed that Spurs are the favourites to sign him but that the North London side are “some way off” agreeing a fee. A potential deal could go down to the “very last hours” of the summer transfer window which slams shut on Friday at 11pm.

This afternoon the Telegraph said Brentford are “edging closer to Forest’s valuation” of the player after submitting a £40m bid. It adds that Johnson is “a priority signing in Thomas Frank’s plans.”

However, transfers expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted that the bid of at least £43m was knocked back by Reds owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Romano

“Nottingham Forest decided to reject formal bid from Brentford for Brennan Johnson,” he wrote.

“Proposal was worth £43m plus add-ons and sell-on clause, not enough to get Forest green light. Tottenham are still interested and had contacts to sign Johnson.”

Romano subsequently tweet to say the Bees are now moving on to other targets.

“Brentford are now considering Johan Bakayoko (Burnley’s priority) and Bradley Barcola as winger targets,” he wrote.

“Brentford focused on different wingers as Brennan Johnson no longer priority target. Nico González remains in club list but Fiorentina announced he’s not for sale.”

Tottenham are also reportedly hopeful of completing a deal with chairman Daniel Levy said to be “in talks” to sign the Forest player before Friday’s deadline.

Johnson impressed in helping the Reds secure their top-flight status for another campaign. He scored eight Premier League goals last season.
