Gary O’Neil gave two potential reason why he refuses to accept theory over Wolves win V Everton

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O’Neil refused to accept that his side’s win over Everton had extra significance.

O’Neil’s side arrived at Goodison Park without a point to their name, the same as Everton, after defeats to Manchester United and Brighton in their opening two games of the season, while the Blues had been beaten by Fulham and Aston Villa.

However, substitute Sasa Kalajdzic flicked in a late header to give Wolves their first Premier League victory of the season and leave Everton pointless and bottom of the table.

“I think winning Premier League games is big, every single one, especially on the road and especially the first one with a new group,” O’Neil said post-match.

“It’s a tough place to come, but it doesn’t feel big because us and Everton were both on zero, it just felt like a win the boys deserved after the work they have put in over the last 15 days.”

The Wolves boss added: “I thought it was a decently-balanced performance with large spells I didn’t like.
