Ryan Bertrand could be the latest former Leicester City player to make a surprise move to Manchester United.
The 34-year-old made 11 appearances for City and missed the whole of last season before being released at the end of an injury hit stint in the summer.
He has not played since an EFL Cup defeat to Liverpool in December 2021 but is being tipped to move to Old Trafford to address an injury crisis at left-back.
First choice Luke Shaw is out with a muscular injury while Tyrell Malacia is also sidelined. Back up player Brandon Williams has left the club to join Ipswich on loan.
The means right-back Diogo Dalot is set to fill in starting with today’s visit of Nottingham Forest. Now the Express says United have made contact with Bertrand’s representatives with a view to giving the free agent a contract offer.
United have already turned to one former Foxes defender this summer with Jonny Evans looking likely to get a one-year deal after returning to his old club to train with them after he left Leicester following relegation from the Premier League.
