Nottingham set to seal surprise transfer as club already securing replacement

Acuña has been linked with a move away from the Spanish side throughout this summer as they reshape their squad  following a disappointing season in La Liga last year.

It had appeared Aston Villa would win the race for his signature as director of football Monchi was keen on a reunion, but that deal was proving hard to get done.

It appeared to have been completely taken off the table when Sevilla announced yesterday that Acuna had suffered a myotendinous injury in the biceps femoris of his right leg that will leave him out for several weeks.

Sevilla had feared that would ‘frustrate a sale’ as he won’t return until after the international break but instead, it appears Nottingham Forest have made their move. The injury ‘has not been an obstacle’ for them, according to AS.

They are in need of a left-back, with neither Omar Richards nor Harry Toffolo seemingly fancied in the position and new signing Ola Aina having filled in at the beginning of this season.

It seems they’ve now secured one in the form of Acuña, and he will be joining Nottingham Forest in what is very much a surprise move.
