Nottingham Forest have seen a bid rejected for Real Betis star Guido Rodriguez. It was a bid of £6.5 million and now it’s been claimed that the Reds are preparing another offer for the player.
According to ESPN Argentina, Forest were knocked back in their first efforts to sign Rodriguez. However, they’re now going to make what they’re calling a ‘juicy’ offer for the central defender.
The midfield enforcer has been with Real Betis since 2020 when he signed from Mexican top-flight outfit America. He’s become a mainstay in the team but has just a year remaining on his existing contract.
Rodriguez has made 146 appearances for the La Liga outfit in total. He’s also played in both of the team’s games this season against Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.
Now, he could be on the move. Lyon are thought to be ahead of Forest in the race to sign the World Cup winner but that’s not going to deter the Reds.
Forest are keen to sign a new central midfielder before the transfer window closes. They’ve been linked with a number of midfielders, including PSV star Ibrahim Sangare.
Rodriguez is a born winner and Forest might have an ace up their sleeve when it comes to tempting him to sign for the club. Gonzalo Montiel won the World Cup alongside Rodriguez and perhaps he’d now fancy a move to the City Ground.
At 29, Rodriguez is in his prime. As a result, it’s no surprise to see the player linked with a move to the City Ground and he could be very useful.
Forest preparing another offer for Rodriguez
This would be a cracking deal if the Reds could get this over the line. He’s an accomplished central defender who has played in one of Europe’s top leagues for the last three years.
Rodriguez has a pretty good injury record. Forest need to make sure that whoever they sign can come in and hit the ground running and the 29-cap star will be capable of doing that.
A defensive midfielder is definitely required at Forest. It would be a shame to see the club fail to get something over the line before next Friday and hopefully, this one can bear some fruit for Forest.
Kevin Campbell played for Forest back in the nineties. He previously called Rodriguez ‘brilliant’ and no doubt he’d like to see the Reds get this one over the line.
