Tottenham are likely to see plenty of movement in one particular department before the transfer deadline.
Tottenham’s transfer business is set to go down to the wire as Ange Postecoglou looks to refine his squad. Chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly been given three recommendations by the Spurs boss, who has already forged a strong relationship with head scout Leonardo Gabbanini.

Incomings and outgoings in central defence could be the key theme in Tottenham’s final week of the summer transfer window. In that department, Micky van de Ven has already been signed from Wolfsburg and Joe Rodon has left on loan, but there are several other moves in the pipeline.
Not least because Postecoglou is keen to shift several centre-backs from his wage bill. Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga are all believed to be expendable if the right opportunity presents itself.
Departures would free up space for Levy to negotiate another arrival, having already been handed a list of three defensive targets by Postecoglou and Gabbanini.
According to football.london, the duo believe that Perr Schuurs, Gleison Bremer and Tosin Adarabioyo are all worthy candidates to bolster the back-line. Postecoglou and Gabbanini reportedly arrived at the three names in question after embracing data-based scouting.
Schuurs boasts varied experience and plenty of game time, having come through in the Eredivisie and spent last season with Torino in Serie A. The 23-year-old is also believed to have admirers at Arsenal and Liverpool.
Bremer’s representatives have a strong relationship with senior figures at Spurs. But that’s where the promising signs end for Postecoglou, with the Juventus star keen to remain in Serie A instead of risking a move to the Premier League at this stage of his career.
Finally, Adarabioyo has been ‘seriously considered’ by Tottenham this summer. The 6ft 5in Fulham man would be attainable at a reasonable price, given that he has less than a year remaining on his contract, but first-team opportunities are thought to be a priority and rival suitors Monaco can offer him greater guarantees.
Earlier this summer, Postecoglou suggested that streamlining the squad is paramount before more signings are made. “The reality of it is we can’t just keep acquiring players,” he said. “We’ve got too big a squad as it is. It affects the training, the players themselves because they all want to play and be involved.
“It’s not so much one has to happen for the other but our focus at the moment is trimming the squad down and seeing where that takes us in terms of reinforcements. We’re assessing that on a daily basis.”
