Leeds United pushing very hard to finalize deal wethin 24hrs from now

Leeds United are “pushing the strongest” ahead of Middlesbrough and Coventry City to sign Glen Kamara from Rangers, according to TEAMtalk.

The online outlet reported on their website on 21 August that Whites technical director Gretar Steinsson is “pushing to finalise” a deal for the Finland international whom Rangers are “keen” to sell before his “value deteriorates”, ahead of the two Championship clubs who have also held talks.

Kamara, 27, is set to “soon” decide on where he moves next having “set his sights” on move to England, and with Leeds United “desperately short” of options in midfield the club are working hard to land Daniel Farke his first choice target in that area.

Ethan Ampadu was the first summer signing this window and finds now himself the senior central midfielder ahead of teenagers Archie Gray and Darko Gyabi.

Jonjo Shelvey has also emerged as a target at Elland Road after falling out with Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest despite only arriving in January, but Kamara is thought to be the top priority currently.

Despite numerous first-team departures from the club this summer Farke is still stuck on just four new signings coming the other way.

Striker and left-back look like key priorities as ever, but having two teenagers and a 22-year-old new signing as the sum of the senior options in central midfield now that Tyler Adams has gone is incredibly thin.

In the circumstances the Ampadu-Gray partnership has been one of the real bright spots in a difficult start to the season, but for a long Championship campaign the manager needs more to turn to.

Kamara has fallen out of favour at Ibrox as Michael Beale overhauls the squad and might not be everyone’s idea of a sure-fire answer to the Whites’ problems, but a move looks to be exactly what the former Arsenal product needs at this point.

With 52 international caps to his name he certainly has talent, and at 27 would add some important experience to the midfield group.

And Shelvey could be pushed for whether Steinsson is successful in landing Kamara or not, especially after Gustavo Hamer, who looked to be a prime target, completed a move to Sheffield United.

In other Leeds United news, Angus Kinnear has provided an update on incoming transfers and further exits amid a stand-off with some key stars.
