PL fans are all saying the same thing as Newcastle close in £28m deal this morning

Newcastle United are closing in on a deal to sign Lewis Hall, and Chelsea fans are not happy.

The Magpies have agreed a deal worth an initial £28million, with Hall eager to join Eddie Howe’s side and play Champions League football at St James’ Park.

It is a shock to see Chelsea decide to sell, as it was previously reported that the Blues had no intention of letting the 18-year-old leave the club permanently.

Instead, he was going to sign for Crystal Palace on loan for the 2023/24 season. But that deal is now off, as Newcastle swoop in to land the left-back they have been searching for.

Eddie Howe is getting that one more signing he wanted, and it is someone who could have a very bright future on Tyneside. Hall is someone who has a lot of potential, and he will hope to become a star at St James’ Park in the coming years.

He was expected to do that at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea having really high hopes for Hall. However, they are now having to cash in as they look to balance the books following deals for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Chelsea fans are not happy that Lewis Hall is leaving

Following news that Newcastle have agreed a £28million fee to sign Hall from Chelsea, plenty of Blues fans have taken to social media to express their discontent.

One fan tweeted: “I really do think we’ll regret selling Lewis Hall. He’ll smash it for Newcastle under Eddie Howe.”

Another posted: “My biggest gripe about selling Lewis Hall is the message it is now sending. In a turmoil season and poor team, Hall was actually one of the better players for Chelsea in the handful of games he played last season. His reward? Being sold a week after being offered a new long-term contract, instead of being shown a pathway and convinced of his future at the club.”

“I’m gutted about Lewis Hall. I do believe we could have handled this differently, whether he wants to go or not,” a third fan wrote.

“Michael Olise off, Reece James injured, Lewis Hall being sold.. what a terrible day,” another Chelsea supporter added.

“Selling Lewis Hall would be a KDB/Salah level of a mistake. We cannot let this happen,” a fifth fan posted.

Finally, a sixth Blues supporter added: “I’m not ready to watch Hall and Livramento rip it up at Newcastle.”

Newcastle are signing a future superstar

You can tell a lot about a player from the way their club’s fanbase views them. With that in mind, it is clear that Newcastle are close to signing a real top talent.

Chelsea fans do not want Hall to leave the club and believe it is something they will live to regret.

But their loss will be Newcastle’s gain – especially in a few years when the Magpies have Hall on one side and Tino Livramento, another ex-Chelsea player, on the other.
