Nobody could have expected Endo to be the man though with Jurgen Klopp and Jorg Schmadtke springing a real surprise.

Stuttgart boss confirms Wataru Endo to Liverpool

This is a huge blow for Stuttgart.

They have been battling relegation from the Bundesliga in the last couple of years and Endo has been a driving force in midfield.

The 30-year-old is their inspirational leader in the middle of the pitch but Endo is now set to leave for a dream move to Anfield.

Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness has now been quoted by Transfermarkt as saying that Endo has indeed been allowed to leave and undergo his Liverpool medical.

Hoeness confirmed that Endo wasn’t in training today and indicated that this move is a decision for the club rather than his own plans.

Hoeness adds that Endo has been ‘very important’ both as a player and as a personality, but he just couldn’t say no to joining Liverpool at this stage in his carer, highlighting his dream to play in the Premier League.

“I can confirm that Wataru has been released by the club to hold talks and take medical tests. He wasn’t in training today,” said Hoeness.

“”From the club’s point of view, the economic package is good. Wataru is a very important player in terms of sport and personality. At the age of 30 he now has the opportunity to switch to Liverpool in the Premier League. It’s a dream of his,” he added.
