Newcastle has beaten Crystal Palace in battle to sign £30m goal machine within 24hrs

Lewis Hall, a Chelsea player, is coveted by Newcastle United, and Eddie Howe is said to be a great fan.

However, Nixon feels that Newcastle’s interest has’moved the goalposts,’ with Hall perhaps making a U-turn and Chelsea considering selling.

This comes amid Newcastle’s interest in signing Marc Cucurella, with Eddie Howe reportedly looking for a left back.

Hall is a player Howe admires, and Newcastle may now launch a £30 million bid to capture him, perhaps deflating Palace’s aspirations.

Lewis Hall may have a sentimental attachment to Newcastle United.

Hall was born in Slough, which is 285 miles from Newcastle.

Yet Hall’s brother Connor – a former Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers talent – has opened up on supporting Newcastle.

The 25-year-old, who is now playing non-league football for Solihull Moors, has previously tweeted about how he is a’massive’ Newcastle fan who adores Alan Shearer.

Hall’s bio even says ‘Newcastle supporter,’ indicating that the Magpies are very important to him.

Chelsea’s Hall hasn’t been as open about his affection for Newcastle, but Connor has previously told The Chronicle that he is a boyhood Magpie.

That may make a move to St James’ Park more tempting than a loan move to Palace.

This would mean giving up his Chelsea career, but Hall, described as’very special’ by Pat Nevin, could be tempted to join Newcastle and do his family proud.
