Tottenham have been tipped to sign £16m Celtic electrifying striker

Kyogo Furuhashi has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Harry Kane, but Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou would be “breaking Celtic hearts” if he signed him away from his previous club. Since Postecoglou signed him for £4.5 million two years ago, Kyogo has been a revelation in Scotland.

In 85 games for Celtic, the 28-year-old has 56 goals and 11 assists. He won the Scottish Players’ Player of the Year award last season as they won the domestic triple under Postecoglou and is expected to join Spurs. According to the Sunday Mirror, a price of £16 million could be enough to get him out of Glasgow.

After losing iconic striker Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last week, the Australian is now rebuilding Tottenham’s team. Richarlison is anticipated to take Kane’s spot for the time being, but the north Londoners may want another attacker to bolster their assault.

Chelsea veteran Pat Nevin, a lifelong Celtic fan, believes Postecoglou would try to poach Kyogo from his old club. But, after causing green and white misery by stepping down as manager this summer, Nevin believes the 57-year-old taking the Hoops’ top scorer would inflict even more Parkhead heartbreak.

Talking to Sporting Post, Nevin said: “If Kyogo left, it would break Celtic hearts. He just signed a new deal which is good, however if the Premier League comes calling, it will be hard to turn down.

“The obvious place for him to go there would be Spurs. If Harry Kane goes, they will need someone who can link up play and is a natural goalscorer. Ange would have worked with him before, so he will know all about him.

“Kyogo is not the same level as Kane, and he is slighter than him. Kane is world class, while Kyogo would still have to show that in a top league. If you give Kyogo the chance to score goals though, he will score and Ange will know that.

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin, a boyhood Celtic fan, says he can envisage Postecoglou trying to pinch Kyogo from his old club. But having already caused green and white heartbreak by leaving his post as manager this summer, Nevin says the 57-year-old taking the Hoops’ top scorer would spark even more Parkhead pain.

“I’d like to see him stay in Scotland, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he went to Spurs.” If Kyogo stays at Celtic, Nevin believes he will win the Scottish Premier League Golden Boot for the second time in a row.

“It will undoubtedly be him.” “He never stops moving and doing the right thing, both on and off the ball,” the Scot continued. Kyogo scored 27 goals last season and has two goals in two games this season after scoring in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Aberdeen.

Postecoglou’s first season as Tottenham manager began with a 2-2 draw at Brentford. After the game, he remarked, “We showed a real resilience that we’re going to need because it’s going to be a challenging year for sure.”
