Sad news as Tottenham star set to leave the club as £12.9m bid being accepted

Tottenham Hotspur defenderDespite Spurs accepting a bid for him, Davinson Sanchez appears to be’reluctant’ to go to Russia.

According to the Sun, Spartak Moscow accepted a £12.9 million deal for him, but he refuses to go for the Eastern European country. That may be an issue for the Spurs.

They appear to be more than eager to sell him for the proper price, and it appears difficult for another team to make such a deal. He hasn’t been particularly spectacular in recent years.

Sanchez has been unreliable and error-prone at times, and he has yet to persuade any Tottenham manager to make him a pinned starting centre-back. He has one year remaining on his contract (Transfermarkt).

What comes next for Sanchez?

Cristian Romero was replaced in the 14th minute against Brentford on Sunday after suffering a concussion. He played well as the Spurs tied the game 2-2.

At times, his game reading, quickness, and decision-making fail to impress. But he’s adequate as a fourth or fifth center-back. If he is content in his capacity, there is no harm in keeping him.

The issue is with his contract. Given his inconsistencies in recent seasons, it would be surprising if the Spurs offer him a new contract and he accepts.

Furthermore, if the Colombia international is to restart his career and become a regular, irreplaceable starter in his country’s XI, he must join another squad.

But it appears he is unwilling to leave Spurs for Spartak Moscow. Perhaps a larger team playing in a more prestigious league would affect his decision. In that case, Spurs must ensure that they do not sacrifice their center-back depth and begin the season with at least four competent CBs.
