THE WORLD CUP WINNER BELIEVES TOTTENHAM HAS SIGNED ‘A PHENOMENON’

With Harry Kane’s mega-money move to Bayern Munich, there is now a massive void in Ange Postecoglou’s frontline.

While it may be a little early to expect Alejo Veliz to fill it – the 19-year-old is far from finished and will most likely be eased into his new surroundings – there is no doubt that a now-Kane-less Tottenham Hotspur have a centre-forward with enormous potential in their ranks.

This season, Veliz scored 11 goals in 22 starts for Rosario Central.

Meanwhile, Tottenham beat off competition from AC Milan, with one former Argentina international saying that the £13 million cost Spurs paid could wind up looking like a bargain.

Tottenham has signed Alejo Veliz, while Harry Kane has joined Bayern Munich.

“Congratulations to Tottenham, who signed Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central,” World Cup champion Daniel Bertoni tells Tuttomercatoweb.

“For me, (Veliz is) a phenomenon.”

Veliz, a rangy 6ft 1ins centre-forward who comes alive in the penalty area, is unlikely to be Tottenham’s lone striker signing this season. Spurs are also interested in Elye Wahi and Gift Orban, with Kane now officially announced as Bayern Munich’s new number nine.

“With young Veliz, we recognised him. “He’s got a lot of talent for a youngster,” Postecoglou says of his latest signing. “He has a great profile.” He’s a huge guy, yet he’s agile and works hard.

“He’s already made an impact in Argentina’s first division, and it’s great to have him back.”

Veliz arrived on the same day that Spurs confirmed the signing of Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg. Other newcomers include James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Ashley Phillips, and Manor Solomon.
