Sheffield United ‘agree’ a ‘£15m deal’ for Leeds United-linked midfielder
Sheffield United have signed Gustavo Hamer from Coventry City for an unknown amount, generally speculated to be £15 million.
“The Blades have made another significant addition to further bolster options within Paul Heckingbottom’s midfield,” the club said in a statement. Gustavo Hamer joins United from Coventry City, where he has succeeded over the last three seasons, leading the Sky Blues to the play-off final last season.
“The 26-year-old Dutch midfielder has signed a four-year contract with City after a significant undisclosed fee was agreed upon on the eve of the Premier League season.”
Leeds United’s star is a Real Madrid ‘option’
According to a report in the Spanish newspaper Sport, Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier is ‘an option’ for Real Madrid this transfer window. Thibaut Courtois, a former Chelsea player, will be out for an extended amount of time due to a major injury, so Los Blancos are looking for a replacement goalkeeper.
Meslier has been linked with a move away from Elland Road since January, with numerous Premier League and European clubs interested. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were among the clubs said to be interested.
