According to Fabrizio Romano Tottenham locked in talk to sign £50m Premier League Defensive Monster

Tottenham Hotspur are still interested in Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Lilywhites want to strengthen their alternatives at center-back.

Romano claims that despite there being silence on Spurs’ chase for a new centre-back, they are still holding discussions to sign Tapsoba. It’s added that the North London heavyweights are actively working to find a solution that benefits all the parties amid rumours that the centre-back is valued at £50 million.

Romano also mentions that Tottenham are focused on the situation revolving around Harry Kane and his links to Bayern Munich – but are still attentive to more signings in the summer window. Romano claims that Tapsoba is on top of their transfer wishlist, as they seem to be envisioning the 22-year-old as the ideal centre-back to pair alongside Cristian Romero in Ange Postecoglou’s system.

After their dismal season that involved multiple managerial changes in the 22/23 campaign, Spurs have been working on improving their squad and giving their new manager his desired targets to help them challenge in the Premier League again. They have made an impressive coup in signing James Maddison from Leicester City to add more flair to their midfield, while Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevki were both signed permanently after their loan spells.

Spurs also pushed for a new No.1 in Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario and completed another transaction by signing former Fulham winger Manor Solomon on a free transfer. They appear to be determined to sign at least one more defender while dealing with the Kane problem.
