Tottenham interested in signing £30m Barcelona sparking midfielder as Hojbjerg’s prefect replacement

Tottenham Hotspur have Frank Kessie, a 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder, on their list of possible replacements for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the Spurs are now open to considering proposals for Hojbjerg.

“Tottenham is now open to evaluating offers for Hojbjerg,” Galetti stated.

“The Danish midfielder is in personal talks with Atletico Madrid and could leave this summer if Tottenham receives a suitable bid.”

“Among others, Kessie is on the English club’s list of possible replacements.”

Hojbjerg is reportedly lobbying for a move away from Tottenham this summer in order to continue playing Champions League football.

The 27-year-old Danish international has been at the club since 2020 and was excellent at times during both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte’s tenures.

And Hojbjerg now appears to be edging closer to La Liga side Atletico de Madrid.

Spurs fans probably won’t be happy to see the back of their midfield enforcer but will hope he is swiftly replaced if so.

Frank Kessie, who only joined Barcelona last summer, failed to live up to the high expectations he arrived with.

The ‘extraordinary’ former AC Milan midfielder joined the club on a free transfer after his deal expired in Italy.

The 26-year-old might be ideal for Ange Postecoglou’s latest venture at the North London club.

Tottenham could attempt to sign Kessie to replace Hojbjerg.

Kessie is expected to fetch approximately £30 million this summer, according to earlier reports.

Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Tottenham are all said to be interested in the Ivory Coast international.

And at that price, a deal could easily be viewed as a coup for the world-class midfielder.

Ange Postecoglou is attempting to form his new squad for the upcoming season, and will most likely be hoping that the futures of Hojbjerg and, of course, Harry Kane can be resolved as soon as possible.

The future of England’s captain is still unknown, and their new manager will not appreciate the uncertainty.

There’s still lots for Daniel Levy and Tottenham to do in the remaining window, but it’s still looking like a promising summer for the club.
