Elland Road plotting to hijack a nearing agreement between Bournemouth and Newcastle United

Leeds United are apparently planning to derail a deal between Bournemouth and Newcastle United for goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

The Whites prepare for their second pre-season friendly in front of supporters today, with Daniel Farke expected to choose a lineup closer to his best.

His goalkeeper spot will be a hot topic of discussion, given that Illan Meslier’s future appears to be uncertain, on top of Joel Robles’ previously confirmed departure.

Karl Darlow’s most recent transfer

Leeds United appeared to be on the verge of losing top goalkeeper target Karl Darlow to Newcastle United this week.

That’s because the stopper is said to be nearing a move to Premier League side Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola – per The Northern Echo.

Darlow travelled to the US for the Magpies’ pre-season tour, but is expected to be given permission to fly back to the UK to discuss a transfer, should an agreement be reached.

Is a Leeds takeover in the cards?

Leeds United aren’t abandoning up on signing the 32-year-old from St James’ Park, according to NUFC Blog.

They report that Darlow is still considering relocating to Leeds due of its proximity to the North East, allowing him to be closer to relatives.

“The Cherries have been in talks with Newcastle this week about a deal for the 32-year-old goalkeeper, but the Whites have returned to the mix and are the new favourites to sign him.”

We need to move on if Darlow is dragging his feet on relocating because he is still undecided.

As much as he’d be a good signing for us in the Championship, the time it takes to complete this transaction is not ideal.

The league we play in has a solid number of goalkeepers who would be more than adequate for us this season under Farke.

We must, however, work much more quickly if we are to complete the transaction.
