Leeds United list out four players that are to leave Elland Road before the end of this window

Leeds United’s preparations for the 2023/24 season are well on at Elland Road, with Daniel Farke at the lead.

The Whites had a forgettable season in the previous campaign, being relegated back to the Championship, and will be eager to return to the top flight.

Farke is a two-time second-tier champion with Norwich City and has only managed one pre-season game against fierce rivals Manchester United, which Leeds lost 2-0 in Oslo.

He has begun working behind the scenes on addressing his squad alongside Leeds’ new ownership group, 49ers Enterprises. The primary focus currently has been surrounding outgoing players, with Leeds yet to recruit a senior first-team player.

The Whites have let go of Tyler Roberts, Alfie McCalmont, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Rodrigo, and Marc Roca so far in the transfer window. Adam Forshaw and Joel Robles have also seen their contracts expire.

Who else will depart Leeds before the window closes?

There will almost certainly be a slew of other staff changes in what Leeds fans believe is the start of a new era. Here, we look at some of the other players who could leave in the coming month.

Illan Meslier

Meslier is anticipated to leave Leeds and is a player on whom the club can make a profit after spending roughly £5 million on him during the summer of 2020.

The 23-year-old has been Leeds’ first-choice for the last few years, but the club is anticipated to have a new first-choice for their first season back in the Championship in three years.

Junior Firpo

Leeds have “decided to listen to enquiries for Junior Firpo” this summer, and will sign a new left-back, according to Phil Hay of The Athletic.

The 26-year-old left-back has had two seasons with Leeds, although it’s fair to say that he hasn’t always been convincing, whilst injuries have restricted the impact he could make on the team.

Helder Costa

Costa is in the penultimate year of his contract at Elland Road, having spent the previous season on loan with Al-Ittihad.

The 29-year-old Angolan international has spent the last two seasons on loan from Leeds and may do so again this season, despite the fact that he is unlikely to be given many chances.

Pascal Struijk

Given the club’s abundance of left-sided centre-backs, Struijk will face competition for playing time next season. Max Wober is expected to start there for Leeds, while Leo Hjelde and Liam Cooper are also on the books.
