Everton have finally registered interest in signing Ajax striker before the end of this summer

According to Sky Sports, Everton have expressed interest in Ajax striker Brian Brobbey but have yet to make a formal bid for the 21-year-old.

The broadcaster stated on Wednesday (19 July, 10:57pm) via their Transfer Centre that Sean Dyche’s team has been in communication with Ajax about the potential of signing Brobbey, who had interest from Manchester United last summer but chose to rejoin Ajaz from RB Leipzig.

The Toffees have been looking at offensive talent this window, notably Willy Gnonto [Daily Mail] and Victor Boniface [Sacha Tavolieri], with Brobbey the most recent link.

If Everton can secure Brobbey, he should be their primary priority.

Manchester United and other clubs have already expressed interest in the 21-year-old Dutchman, who has a true pedigree and world-class potential.

His stats too show that he could provide the goals that were missing at Goodison Park last season. With 0.71 non-penalty goals per 90 (97th percentile) and 9.82 touches in the attacking penalty area (99th percentile) [FBRef], he clearly poses a threat to opposition defences.

However, a player of this quality and age may be unlikely to move to Everton as he could attract attention from European-level teams, so the club must act quickly if they are to secure the 13-goal striker.

Everton had a serious goalscoring problem last season, with only 34 league goals scored, so bringing in a proven goalscorer is critical for Sean Dyche if they are to avoid relegation.

He has the potential to lead Everton to the next level, but Toffees fans should be careful because imports from the Eredivisie can take time to adjust to Premier League football, which is why they have been chasing Premier League-proven talent like Gnonto.

This, though, may be very fantastic news for Everton supporters.
