Tottenham are set make a potential replacement for the de facto goal king

The summer transfer controversy is expected to continue, but there could be a resolution to Harry Kane’s Tottenham future in the near future.

Daniel Levy is currently caught between a rock and a hard place because if he sells his striker, he will forever be known as the chairman who cashed in his chips, but if he does not get some money in for the England captain, Kane can simply walk away in a year for nothing.

To that sense, it’s only appropriate for Levy to be looking for a potential replacement should Kane drop the news that his tenure at the club is coming to an end.

Whoever replaces Kane will have a difficult task on their shoulders since, while he isn’t irreplaceable, he is the de facto goal king at White Hart Lane, so any other number nine will be considered as a downgrade, no matter how brilliant he is.

According to Football Transfers, Tottenham are interested in Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Toney is now serving a ban for betting-related concerns and won’t be accessible until January in any case.

That may work in Spurs’ favor since Levy could give Kane assurances that he can go in the coming year while still commanding a fee and bringing in a straight replacement – something he’s unlikely to do this summer if Kane is enticed by Bayern Munich’s overtures.
