Barcelona is reportedly interested in signing Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca this summer. Over the off-season, the Catalan giants are thought to be interested in bringing in Spanish players.
Roca’s Recent Form In Leeds
Roca has failed to maintain the Whites in the Premier League during his time at Elland Road. The Spaniard has one goal and two assists in 36 games for the West Yorkshire club this season across all competitions.
In Premier League games, the 26-year-old has been a good player on both sides of the field, averaging 2.1 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.1 shoots, 1.0 important passes, and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes. He’s also a good passer, completing 79.4% of his attempted passes in the English Premier League (statistics from whoscored).
His current contract with the Yorkshire club is set to end in the summer of 2026. Leeds’ recent relegation, on the other hand, may have opened the door for Barcelona to recruit him this summer.
Is Roca a viable option for Barcelona manager Xavi?
Roca, at the center of the park, can do a little bit of everything. He is a tough tackler who can make important interceptions in the center of the field for his side.
When needed, the Spanish wonder clears his lines and can also play his way out of midfield. He must, though, find a way to be more productive in the game’s closing third.
If Xavi decides to sign Roca this summer, he possesses the technical capacity to thrive at a top club such as Barcelona. At the age of 26, he still has a lot of ability to grow as a footballer and would be a nice option for Barcelona to look into this summer.
