Tottenham Hotspur made a £18.8 million proposal for Roger Ibanez last week, but Roma turned it down.
According to a Roma Giallorossa report, Jose Mourinho’s team are looking for £25.6 million for the Brazilian.
According to Roma Giallorossa, Tottenham has made a €22 million bid for Ibanez. Roma, on the other hand, declined the offer.
The asking price for the 24-year-old has been reduced. They had originally asked for £30 million for Ibanez. However, if the money is paid in advance, they can now accept £21.3 million.
It is unclear whether Spurs intend to return with a better offer. However, according to the report, both Fulham and West Ham are interested in the defender.
Tottenham must just improve their defense for next season. And Ibanez had previously been predicted to ‘become one of the world’s top defenders’. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise if Spurs return with a better offer in the coming weeks.
Ibanez is an excellent defender. But he is also quite assured in possession, capable of driving out from behind the defense.
He does not appear to be expensive. And Tottenham appear to be close to an offer that Roma would accept.
So possibly the first bid from Tottenham will not be the last we hear from Ibanez this window.
