LAS VEGAS (AP) — While the Celtics can still make personnel moves this summer, certain doubts have arisen with the Marcus Smart trade. Smart was a divisive player at times, but he was tasked with leading the C’s as their starting point guard.
It’s uncertain who will fill the void left by the acquisition of Kristaps Porzingis and the trade of Smart to the Grizzlies. The Celtics, of course, have options for their starting point guard. Derrick White and Malcolm Brogdon are the natural stand-ins, however it will be intriguing to see if Brogdon is promoted to a starting role following his Sixth Man of the Year campaign. Payton Pritchard is another guard on the C’s bench.When asked about the point guard dilemma, Boston president even Brad Stevens stated that it will be a team effort including the entire roster. Given the Celtics’ guards, but especially the performances of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, this is a foregone conclusion.
