INEOS U-turn-Man United Erik ten Hag sack verdict when final decision will be taken

Over one week on from the first of two frustrating draws for Manchester United in a key week for Erik ten Hag, the managerial position is still not a safe one. Despite getting through a defining four days in charge, his long-term future is far from clear.

After a pre-arranged meeting between the new Ineos hierarchy took place on Tuesday afternoon in central London, Ten Hag may well have feared the worst. Suggestions are that even with his performance as head coach thought to be one of the many topics discussed, Ten Hag is confident that he has the backing of the senior figures.

That much now appears to be true. Such is the lack of noise that has come from this get-together of executives and directors, Ten Hag looks to have escaped the axe again. For now.

United have three players to build a title-winning team around

He is still very much a man under pressure. Publicly he continues to defend himself even when Sir Jim Ratcliffe doesn’t. Pundits, ex-pros, supporters, and the wider media are all much less positive about just how bright the future looks with him in charge.
