Former Leicester City striker Gary Lineker has revealed an apology he has received from Elton John, two months after City’s win over Watford.
Enzo Maresca’s men came out as 2-0 winners over the Hornets back in November with Jamie Vardy scoring a brace. The second goal came from the penalty spot after Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann was shown a red card for a foul on the City striker
John is a former chairman of Watford and remains a fan of the club. It seems that he now had a private bet with Lineker over the result, with the singer-songwriter sending over the money he owed
Posting on his social media channels, Lineker has shared a picture of a letter sent by Elton John along with a £10 note. It read “Dear Gary, sorry this is late! With Christmas, we were left a little short!
“Have a great new year. It was so great to see you! Thank you, Love Elton.”
Along with the picture, Lineker wrote. “Never let it be said that @eltonofficial doesn’t pay his debts. Leicester 2 Watford 0.”
