The 24-year-old from Leeds will be wishing he had signed with Rangers after Daniel Farke passes him over – Opinion

Jamie Shackleton may be wishing he had moved to Rangers after remaining an unutilized substitute for Leeds United in their last two games and likely dropping further down the ladder as the season progresses.

The 24-year-old Shackleton spent a lackluster season on loan at Millwall in London before making his way back to Leeds in the summer. The adaptable star has made his way back into Daniel Farke’s plans now that he is back at Elland Road.

But, of late, he has remained an unused sub after a good start. Shackleton last played a league game in September, missing two with a shoulder issue – and then, staying on the bench at Norwich and Stoke.

With Archie Gray, Ethan Ampadu, Glen Kamara and Ilia Gruev all options in central midfield, Shackleton will only really get a look in at full-back. That has been proven by only playing on the right or left so far.

Djed Spence is closing in on a return from injury, while Luke Ayling remains an option. On the left, we have Sam Byram in good form and ridding himself of his injury prone status. Junior Firpo is injured.

Jamie Shackleton will undoubtedly wish he had moved from Leeds to Rangers.
But like Stuart Dallas, he is getting close to making a comeback. After a strong start, Shackleton will fall in the standings, and he will undoubtedly regret not considering a move to the Scottish powerhouse Rangers.

Rangers contemplated a move while Michael Beale was still manager, according to Phil Hay’s report on The Athletic website. Beale frequently used the Championship as a recruiting pool for potential Ibrox signings.

Of course, he was fired, and Philippe Clement took his place. Shackleton’s prospects of joining the Rangers are now gone. Given his limited playing time, he undoubtedly believes he ought to have moved.
